Inside The Curriculum

Kids Martial Arts Built for Real Development.

Our Children's Program is led by Professor Evan Thompson, a 1st Degree Black Belt with 39 years of training across Japanese Kempo Karate, American Kickboxing, Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, and BJJ. Classes blend Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Kickboxing, and Judo so students get a complete movement education, not a narrow specialty.

Each age group trains at the right intensity and complexity. Young students focus on listening, coordination, and cooperative drilling. Older students add live training, sparring, and competition prep for those who pursue it.

Parents are welcome to watch every class from the viewing area. Most parents notice changes in focus and follow-through at home within the first few weeks.

What You'll Learn
  • Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fundamentals (positions, escapes, control)
  • Wrestling takedowns and scrambles
  • Kickboxing technique and pad work
  • Judo throws and breakfalls
  • Kids belt progression with clear milestones

Before You Sign Up

Common questions about Kids Martial Arts in The Colony.

What age can my child start?

The Children's Program starts at age 4. Younger children focus on cooperative drilling, listening, and coordination. As students grow, the curriculum opens up into live training and sparring with calibrated intensity.

Is it safe?

Yes. Classes are fully supervised by Professor Thompson and qualified instructors. Contact is calibrated to age and skill level. Mats meet impact safety standards, and instructors are background-checked.

My child has no experience. Will they be okay?

Yes. Most students start with no prior martial arts experience. The class is built for beginners. Instructors expect short attention spans and adjust accordingly. No embarrassment, no pressure.

How often should my child come?

Two classes per week is the standard recommendation for consistent progress. One class is fine if that fits your schedule, but advancement will be slower.
